hiring note

In partnership with

What a week.
Genuinely.

It was her bday so maybe you want to wish her if you havent

When you do, ask her context of the below:

Our new content team is shaping up. and I can’t be more excited

It’s been hectic with the current team

A lot of the team is drained / tired / their creative juices are ending

Do i blame them?

No.

See, the bar is not set by a client

Or another agency

Or a reference point

It’s set by them. and every week a writer writes, the bar just moves higher

Sometimes it’s tough to maintain that bar, let alone go above it

Over time, some of them get lost. because either

They get overdependent on ai
They need weeks off to recalibrate
They get tunnel visioned
They start getting biased to their writing style

And at the end they’re humans

Sometimes a break helps. sometimes we need to step in and guide

But sometimes it just doesn’t work beyond a point. Why?
Because they realise that they want something different

A Smarter Way to Boost Amazon Sales—Without Higher Ad Spend

Top Amazon sellers are adding affiliate marketing to the equation—driving external traffic from blogs, review sites, and creators, and only paying when it converts.

The result?

Lower ad spend
Higher organic rankings
More sales

Levanta made a free guide on how to get started, which networks to use, and finding affiliates that perform.

We work with so many industries
So many clients

So much qc

So many people reading it

Scope of errors? very few

So sometimes one client escalation demotivates one
Because the praises are a few (just how we are as humans)
But criticisms, instant.

My request?

If you ever hire an agency, freelancer, or anyone.

If you don’t have to correct something, acknowledge the efforts.

You’ll make someone’s day without knowing it.

One of the things that made my day?

Okay I just rambled about context

We hired a writer last week. Great. Contract signed.

First day at work 3 hours in and she disappeared

No replies to Slack, Calls, SMS, WhatsApp

Blocks the hiring agency she came through

Didn’t work out

But today we hired 3 folks

And Romia was an instant hire.

You’ll see more of her soon.

We’re yet looking to expand our content team

A few things i always look for in a writer:

1. What kind of content they consume
2. What is their tool stack (arc browser, granola, texts, etc)
3. How do they research a topic if they had to
4. First principles thinking
5. Humor
6. Humble

When we hire. the first thing is to know whether they write to do content as a task or because they are genuinely interested in it

If it’s the former, that honesty is yet rare and appreciated and can be worked around

If it’s the latter, it’s 3 questions in you can call it out if it’s not true.

Now that my hiring story is over.
