my dark circles

In partnership with

if you’re reading this today, happy holi!

take a moment to just appreciate the colors we have around us

whether it be the sky, the trees, the colors you see in this newsletter

imagine if it was all black and white. not fun, huh?

sorry, that got meta. but just feeling grateful today.

what’s really been up?

Sales. Cool calls. Wins. A lot.

Yup that’s me right now. One magnesium pill in. Ended Thursday at 4 am only to onboard a US client at 8 am. On Holi.

I wish every week was super colorful. Today let’s talk about survival instincts.

You’ve probably read online. “The only job of the founder is to survive”

Touchwood, we’ve been having it lucky after our first year. Things kept growing organically.

Until recently, where it stopped.

Clients shutting shop, our POC leaving us and new replacement wanting to stop marketing spends.

So on.

While it’s flattering to know it’s not because of our results, a termination yet pinches.

It was Jan where I predicted a few tough months tbh.

What did we do?

Enter PR. Enter Cold Emails. Enter SEO.

If all clients give us a 3 month pilot. It’s only fair we do the same for all the agencies we hire.

SEO? Increase in traffic? Yes. Increase in leads? Not yet
PR? Parents sharing in their groups? Yes. Increase in leads? Nope.
Cold Emails? Call bookings? Yes. Conversions. Soon

While you would have seen my calendar screenshot last week, a lot of it was also suprisingly referrals and inbound.

The 3 conversions that happened in the last two weeks were

a. being a part of a community 5 years ago and remembering each other
b. cold whatsapping an insurance company who had a brief on a marketing group
c. inbound lead through referral

2 Indian. One American. All valued above $100 Mn (some $Bn)

The point of saying all this is because somewhere in doing all this, health goes for a toss.

We have 20-30 calls a week since we pumped out cold emails. The feeling? Great

10-5 normal existing clients. 7 PM walk.

9 PM - 3 AM samples and calls. Followed by proposals and followups 8am onboardings or client calls for personal work.

Sleep? Let’s just say dark circles (even for Geeta)

Sometimes you just want to take a break.

But the thought of even breaking even is scary.

The team who believes in you, what’s that belief for?

Getting shit out. Being there in tough times.

The good part?

I love doing it.

I don’t struggle to get samples out. Or be up talking to clients.

Because every client I speak to, it’s so much to learn about a new industry or approach to an industry.

A lot of them talk about having no faith in email as a channel.

Just telling them that it took an email for them to get on a call and going on a rant to show how powerful this industry is is a win.

Even if at the end of the call they say, hey, i can see your passion for what you do and don’t end up converting.

My win comes in just getting more people to believe in the ecosystem.

See, every month isn’t perfect. We aren’t making 10s of lakhs profit every month (March was one of the months)

But the hope is to do that. And not lakhs. Crores.

The last thing I want is to not be able to support a team who supports millions of readers.

So yes, while people ask, dude give a fuck about your health.

The 150 bpm, the almost fainting because my body needs rest but my brain wont let me leave my desk, or the dark circles, we are going to make it pay off.

It's 2025. Want to finally be a regular podcast guest in your industry? PodPitch will make it happen. Even the beehiiv team uses it!

PodPitch.com automates thousands of weekly emails for you, pitching your team as ideal guests.

Big brands like Feastables use PodPitch.com instead of expensive PR agencies.

Yes. Yes. And Yes.

Last week, we did two big things. Finally figured how to make promotional emails work at scale.

While $2k might not sound like a lot given our other numbers. Trust me, the AOV is $20.

So one email doing this at current scale, means 100x possibility. Also 20x ROAS in terms of cost at existing numbers xD

PS: Look at how the team pulls each other up. This is what i mean…

You’re probably wondering. What happened to communities, Arnav?

Been a while. Did you shut that?

NO. We just needed to prove shit before we did talk about it.

Launched a community. 800 people in within a week organically.

We’ve seen 10% engagement on polls. But 10% reply rate. Nope, never before.

We’ll have a separate edition on this. But THIS GETS ME PUMPED

1. The SaaS mvp will be ready next week. The Devs get a macbook each if we hit $2k MRR by april on the SaaS. FINALLY. Movement.

Proof of progress? Anirudh who loves doing masti in hindi, now sounds like Rahul (you might think avatars are so old, but you have no idea what’s cooking)

2. Talk about technical newsletters? We’re onboarding a legal immigration firm based out of the US. And they liked our v1. Yup. We now know USCIS updates by heart…

O1 visa. Im coming for you.

3. If i get rejections like these. It’ll pinch less
