today’s one is v v diff
but before that
note: we’re trying to wrap up all work for the week ahead by next week so the team can celebrate too.
and that’s todays topic: working as a remote team
most people are like “it’s 2025, this doesn’t work”
and i hear you. actually what? no I DONT
we’ve operated remote from the get go. over 3 years. yes
our first employee tanishq yet is with us. and ive met him twice.
in fact ive not met 70% of my current team. and that’s not a hurdle.

but im not here to preach. why does it work? how does it work?
first. what doesnt work
most of the times. we dont know what people are doing
or if they’re doing anything
and yes you can have trackers. do standups. but that’s the game of trust
and accountability
one thing my ex-boss who lived in the US taught me (diff timezone).
it’s not about. the hours. it’s about the work.
finish work. leave. idc what you do for the rest of the day
and we have the same culture here
yes. every morning at 10am i know people are in bed
i can hear their morning voice knowing they’ve just woken up
but that’s okay. some of them work with me till 3 am
what about collaboration? team morale?
that’s the job of a founder.
we have night shifts (joke theme) but yes we sit from 10 am
till the time gets over (optional for whoever wants to join and vibe)
cameras on. mics off. get work done. 10 mins bs in between
helps us bond. but also helps us get a lot done
our design team sits on discord (and i dont even have access)
and they’ve become a community amongst themselves
but more than anything. people have started caring

a writer in our team has been afk this week due to an emergency
vedant and aushini (both relatively new) stepped in and did all her work
WITHOUT ASKING
if you operate a remote team as a transactional one, you’re better off hiring freelancers
but if you want it to work. care about them. prove you care about the work
and dont just delegate, also take accountability and help others.
my team has the right to call me out
and that’s the rapport that should exist

if i dont fill out my tasks, it’s publicly mentioned
AND I LOVE IT
so yes, remote teams work
just see how you go about it to make it work
