Well, I’ve been using X since the time it was called Twitter, and I refuse to call it “X.”

You know I’ve done some awesome stuff in my life, and I can’t thank my parents for it. The real credit goes to Twitter.

⦁ I sold ebooks on Twitter.
⦁ Landed freelance gigs at 19.
⦁ Grew my YouTube channel thanks to Twitter.
⦁ Made most of my friends (and a few exes) on Twitter.

This app has given me everything. So today, under the “Gyaan Pelo Yojna,” I’m spilling the beans on how Twitter can give you everything too. (Trust me, I have 5k+ followers).

But before we dive in, show some love by clicking the ad below and funding this priceless wisdom👇

We’re loyal to Beehiiv, but let’s borrow a quick post from Substack:

As you can see, content marketing has done a full 180. Back in the day, social media was an afterthought. Now? It’s the starting point.

Why? Because of you.

Brands want to sell you stuff, but you ditched blogs for Twitter and Instagram. So, naturally, brands followed you.

Even we hopped on the bandwagon.

I’ve been active on Twitter since 2021, and while Elon has made the features go haywire, what works boils down to three words: value, value, value.

Back then, brands crammed all the value they could into blogs while stuffing them with keywords like:

1. What’s the best book I can read in 2025?
2. What are the best food places in Bangalore?

But instead of Googling, you started scrolling for book suggestions or Bangalore food guides.

To stay relevant, brands had to shift gears and provide upfront value. But what does “value” mean? On Twitter, it boils down to:

It’s about educating or entertaining with no strings attached. This builds trust, whether you’re a brand or an individual.

P.S. Newsletters thrive on the same value principles. Want proof?

Once you’ve earned trust by providing free value, you can move to phase two: asking for attention and, eventually, money.

Unlike us, who shamelessly ask you to click on ads like this one👇

Brands and individuals use subtle tactics to engage their audience (no shady stuff, most of the time). Here’s how I did it:

Built trust:
Grew a 2–3k audience in 2021 and converted 500+ podcast subscribers. (Attention)
Monetised trust:
Sold two ebooks, both hitting 100+ copies. Sales were so good, I doubled the price the next day. (Money)
Mixed fun with value:
Ran a quirky ebook giveaway where participants had to reply with their best pickup lines.

These activities showed recruiters I could grow and monetise an audience, which helped me land freelance gigs.

Even now, the formula hasn’t changed. Brands (or their founders) ask you to visit their site, subscribe to newsletters, or check out their products & courses once they’ve earned your trust.

Individuals get freelance gigs by proving they can grow an audience, secure opportunities by showcasing talent, or land brand collaborations (yes, even that viral brand joke you saw was probably paid).

And that’s what Twitter is all about.

Providing free value with attention-grabbing hooks and reaping opportunities long-term.

In our case, we’re not selling anything—you’re already a subscriber, and your ad clicks keep us fed. You’re our pookie. 🥹

But we do love flexing followers. So, follow us — it’s an order! (And get even more free value)

And that’s it for today’s gyaan bomb.
